We ask that you prepay with a check, money order or credit card
number with expiration date (MasterCard, Discover, American Express
or Visa). If you anticipate that your research project will result
in more than five pages of photocopied material, please indicate
on the research request form (below) the maximum amount you wish
to spend.
Please make your request specific and include as much background
information as possible. To effectively search for a newspaper notice
of an event, such as a birth or death, we must have both the place
and date. Although we can't guarantee that we will find what you
are looking for, we will send a letter documenting our search and
where possible, suggest alternative resources. If your request will
require an extensive search, we will send a list of researchers
with whom you can negotiate for a more detailed search.
Before requesting newspaper research, please check Colorado's
Historic Newspaper Collection, a digital archive of Colorado's
earliest newspapers, to see if the article you need is
available online. This is an ongoing digitization project that will
eventually include Colorado newspapers up to 1924.
We appreciate your interest in Colorado Historical Society collections,
and look forward to assisting you with your research.
