Coming Attractions

The Interpretive Services department of Colorado History Museum, the Colorado Historical Society’s flagship location in Denver is working diligently to develop and create exciting new exhibits and programming in the coming months and years. Not only will the Society’s changing exhibitions appeal to vast audiences assist in generating repeat visitation to the museum – a primary goal for many of the region’s cultural attractions – but they are also key to showcasing important contributions to Colorado’s history.

Preserving Colorado Communities: The Italians of Denver
Colorado History Museum
Opening April 2007

A new exhibit, Preserving Colorado Communities: The Italians of Denver, will open in April. 2007 and will depict Italian American traditions, home life, religious beliefs, family, work and entertainment. Using compelling personal stories and over 200 rare artifacts and photographs, the exhibit will recognize the contributions of the Italian immigrants from the 1800s until the present to Colorado's history.

Fort Garland celebrates the Bicentennial of Pike’s Exploration with Explorer or Spy? The Pike Legacy, an exhibition providing new perspectives on Zebulon Pike’s 1806–07 Louisiana Purchase expedition and his illegal entry into New Spain’s northern borderlands.

Coming February 2007!
Don't miss this limited engagement of the exhibition Colorado 1870-2000: Then & Now II, featuring 35 photographic pairs from famous 19th-century photographer, William Henry Jackson, and renowned 21st-century nature photographer, John Fielder. The exhibition poignantly demonstrates both static and dramatic changes to Colorado’s landscape over 130 years. Exhibit runs through April 28, 2007.
