Contested Lands: Photographs Around the Picket Wire
NEW Exhibit! Downstairs on the (M) Level

A Woman's
Place... Is on the Range
On view Downstairs on the (M) Level
In popular perceptions of the American West, the cowboy has stood
as a dominant icon on the landscape. He roped, ranched, and rodeo'd
his way into history. However, women have worked alongside men,
and
even independently of them, doing the same things. A
Woman's Place... Is on the Range looks at the lives of women in ranching,
the rodeo, and cattle and livestock associations. There will also
be a
glimpse into "cowgirl" fashion and pop culture.
Colorado
TimeScape
In Colorado TimeScape, 10,000+ years of history unfold on
a gigantic 3-D model of the state, providing an extraordinary perspective of Colorado’s
dramatic landscape. The model provides the dramatic stage
for a 10-minute multimedia presentation in which lasers move across
the terrain documenting how land and people have shaped each
other throughout Colorado’s history. The exhibit was made possible by a challenge grant from the Gates Family
Foundation and nearly 200 individuals and organizations that
sponsored their favorite places in Colorado.
