Volunteer Opportunities inside the Colorado History Museum:
Collections
Books, Manuscripts & Ephemera (flexible shifts): M-F
10:00am - 4:30pm
Process, sort, arrange and re-house manuscript collections
Inventory of maps, architectural and technical drawings
Sorting, filing and cataloging ephemera collections
Catalog incoming collections on computer
Assist staff to locate & assemble historical information on topics
for news media; research patrons & professional colleagues
Collections Management & Registration: Tuesday
& Thursday 10:00am - 4:30pm
Data entry/typing and filing donation records
Primary research on specific collections or artifacts
Technical help in exhibit preparation
Artifact cleaning and conservation
Inventory in the collections and exhibitions
Complete condition reports for collection items
Photographing, cataloging and numbering artifacts from collections
Preparation of objects for storage and for loan shipments
Photo Studio (flexible shifts): M-F
10:00am - 4:30pm
Organize, sort, and number slides, transparencies & negatives into binders for Society access
Database entry
Training will be provided
Research Library (flexible shifts): Tuesday-Saturday
10:00am -4:30pm
Computer skills preferred (WORD/WINDOWS)
Shelve, photocopy, file and typing of materials in collection
Index Colorado newspapers and historical journals
Data entry of patron registration forms
Help with special projects to provide customer service for the public
Training will be provided
Roadside Interpretation Program (flexible shifts): M-F
10:00am - 4:30pm
Graduate-level research on topics in Colorado history
Graduate-level writing of short papers on selected topics
Photo research
Competent computer skills
Ability to work independently
Commit at lease 6-8 hours per week
