Outreach Programs

The Speaker's Bureau programs are given at museums, library, schools, and organizations throughout the Denver metro area. We are proud to share with you a short summary of the programs offered by the Colorado Historical Society’s Speakers Bureau.  Each lasts approximately thirty minutes.  We provide all needed equipment and a volunteer to make the presentation.

Pioneering Women, I                                     
Augusta Tabor, Frances Jacobs, Clara Brown & other great women of Colorado are profiled.
Pioneering Women, II                                   
Baby Doe Tabor, Helen Bonfils, Emily Griffith & other great women of Colorado are profiled.
Cobwebs & Crystal                                       
Stories about some of the historic hotels of Colorado, including the Brown Palace and Tabor House.
Cowboys/Cattle Industry                             
The history of the cattle barons and the life of a typical cowboy are presented.
Faith of Our Fathers                                      
A look at some of the historic churches of Colorado.
Forts                                                                 
Stories and history on various forts around the state – then and now.
Grand Residences, I                                       
Tour several grand residences of Denver, including  the Molly Brown Home and the Byers-Evans Mansion.
Grand Residences, II                                     
Tour four elegant houses of Colorado, including  the Grant-Humphreys Mansion and the Zang Mansion.
Colorado Pioneers                                          
Profiles of men who helped shape the history of our state.
Outhouses of Colorado                              
  A variety of architectural design in these houses of necessity.
Railroads/Settlement                                    
A presentation on the establishment of the railroad in Colorado and its impact on settlement.
Sod to Sandstone                                         
A look at the type of homes pioneers built, from the earliest “soddy” to affluent sandstone mansions.
First Families                                                  
Stories and recollections of Colorado’s First Ladies.
William Henry Jackson                                
A look at the life and work of the renowned Western artist and photographer.
Ol’ Ramrod/Ole Snakebite                           
John Russell or Lonnie Farmer in person as a mountain man and fur trader.

Donations to the Volunteers of the Colorado Historical Society are accepted, based on
the size of the audience.  Suggested amount: $30 minimum for up to 15 persons and $1 per
