The
Colorado Book Review Center presents a new feature—head-to-head
reviews of current books on Colorado history. From time to time,
the Center's co-editors, Dr. Modupe Labode,
the Colorado Historical Society's chief historian, and Dr.
Thomas J. Noel, professor of history at the University
of Colorado-Denver, will jointly select a book for review.
Their current selection is Clark Secrest's Hell's Belles: Prostitution,Vice,
and Crime in Early Denver, with a Biography of Sam Howe, Frontier
Lawman (Boulder: University Press of Colorado, 2002), a revised
edition of Secrest's earlier volume of the same name). |
